I am 7 weeks!

I successfully got through week 6 without morning sickness. I had a little nausea and my stomach is definitely a little more sensitive but I am grateful that is all it has been. I have heard too many horror stories about how bad morning sickness could be so I am praying that it continues to stay away! All in all I really cannot complain I have been really lucky!

Andrew and I have started talking about names. A couple years ago I came up with the name Everett Lee for a boy because Everett is a family name on the Ivy side (and Andrew's middle name) and Lee is a family name on my side of the family. SO we have pretty much decided on that if it is a boy. As far as the girl's name goes we are still hashing it out a little. We have talked about Emily Joy (we are sticking with E names, it just makes it easier!) and we have also talked about Emelia Grace (but we would call her Emmy). I am not too worried about it I am sure we will figure something else. After all we do have plenty of time!

We have our first doctor's appointment on Thursday and I have been having a lot of excitement/anxiety going on about that. The appointment is at 2 so I was thinking about taking a half day at work but I have not been very successful with finding a sub. So we will see! I have also been worried that I am going to get there and they will do the ultrasound and something will be wrong. I guess a lot of people worry about that but having to wait 4 week after you find out that you are pregnant to even see the doctor really is very hard. You wonder about all of these things and start to second guess whether there is anything really in there. I have also been worried about the needles. If you know me well you know that I do not do very well with needles. We have a hate/hate relationship as I would say. They have a really hard time finding my veins so sometimes they have to poke me several times. The good thing is that everything that I went through with my gallbladder surgery kind of helped with that a little. So I am not as scared as I use to be. Since I have gotten pregnant you can see my veins a little better also because of the extra blood you are producing so I am hoping that will help!

Oh and did you notice the new belly shot??!!

New Belly Picture!

So I know that there is not a lot of change but if you compare it to the baseline belly picture I posted earlier you can tell that there is a slight change there! At first I thought I might be getting fatter but I weighed myself and there is no change in my weight so I am excited!

Easter Weekend

On Saturday we went to see my parent in Peachtree City. It was nice to see them! I was hoping that I would be able to see my niece and nephews but a tree had fallen down in their backyard and they decided not to come so they could get it up. This morning daddy made momma's world famous grits, sausage, and eggs! It was yummy! Then for Easter dinner we had pork roast, cabbage, and yellow rice. I know it sounds a lot like New Years dinner right? Well, momma had bought the pork roast for new years and then they decided to go to Florida so we never used it. So they made it today. She stuffs it with raisens, apples, sausage, and I don't know what else. But trust me it is amazing!

After we got done eating and let my food settle a little we went to Douglasville to visit Andrew's family. They usually don't do anything for Easter but had decided to get together so we decided to stop by. We hung out with everyone while they ate (we were too full to eat again), played some corn hole (don't ask I can't explain it), and just talked. We had a good time! But, it was getting late so we decided to leave

So, I had an emotional pregnancy moment this weekend! I knew it was dumb at the time but I was still upset. Anyway, Andrew and I went to Target to get a few things. While I was there I wanted to get a belly band so I will be prepared when I need it and I had put on one of my pairs of old jeans that morning and while they still fit, they fit differently. It was uncomfortable so I thought maybe I would look into some jeans in the next size up so it would not be as uncomfortable and I would have some room to grow. Well I found some jeans, tried them on, bought them, and got into the car to leave, and then burst into tears! I think it was because I have worked so hard to get to the way I am (or was before I got pregnant) and to stay that way that it is tough to swallow buying pants in the next size. Luckily Andrew was there and told me I was being dumb and made me feel better. I guess that is just what pregnancy hormones do to you! I have had a little belly progress! The belly is poking out a little bit. Probably not noticeable to anyone else but Andrew and I can tell a difference especially when you compare it to the baseline belly picture. Well that is it for now I am on Spring Break this week so I will probably be posting again soon!

I am Five Weeks!

So nothing to exciting is going on this week. I am five weeks and four days today. It seems like so much longer than 5 weeks! I ordered some books from Amazon which finally came in yesterday. I ordered "The Expectant Father" for Andrew and I got "What to Expect: Eating well while you are Expecting". I have been curious about what exactly it is that I should be eating and how I am suppose to get all of the food families and servings in. So I thought I would check it out. It is pretty interesting...but also very overwhelming! I do not know how I am ever going to get in all of the protein, dairy, and everything else that they want you to! But I am going to take it one step at a time and for now just try to get some more protein and dairy into my diet because those are the most important things.

I got a pregnancy journal ("The Belly Book") for me to record the different things that are going on each week. It even has places for me to put pictures of my belly each week and asks about nausea and food aversions and when you finally had to give it up and put on those first pairs of maternity pants! It is really cute! The plan as far as maternity clothes go is to get a belly band and stay in my pants as long as I can possibly stand it. In case you don't know, belly bands are these things you put over your unbuttoned pants that look like an undershirt that allow for to wear your pants longer. This way no one knows you are busting out of your pants and unable to zip them!
I have not noticed any belly changes yet but, it is still early! I am looking forward to when I finally get a bump!

I am a little nervous and excited for next week because it is spring break but also because it will be my sixth week! They say that if you are going to get morning sickness this is the week is is probably going to happen so you can see why I might be a little nervous! But the good thing is that if it does happen I will be at home and will not have to be miserable at work! So I guess we will just have to wait and find out.

Today was CRAZY!!

I got up to go to school this morning and noticed there was a waterfall where my steps should be and the back yard was flooded. I automatically think that worst so I had already convinced myself that a pipe had burst or something. I called my Dad and he said it was because of all of the rain. Go figure! So I drove to school hoping that the day was going to be a lot better than the day before

My class took the mathematics portion of the CRCT today which means it was the last test!!! It seriously took my kids almost three hours to take the test. I thought I was going to shoot myself in the head by the end of it! Shortly after we finished all of the first grade teachers gathered together and started fixing the bubbles on the test (in case you did not realize yes we have to go back and erase and fix every bubble and stray mark on the standardized tests, which let me tell you is a whole lot of fun!) As we were in there the principal came in at about 1:15 and told us to go back to our rooms and get our students packed up because we were releasing early due to flooding. So, I rushed back to my room, got the kids packed up and waited for the announcement to start moving my students to the pick-up room. Around two we opened the doors for the parents to get the kids around 2:45 we had several kids left so we began calling parents and making sure they were coming to get their children. Around 3:00 there were still 2 first graders left (of course) so they were sent to after school care. I went back to my room and it got to be around 3:20 and we were called to the lobby. Turns out the kids will not have school tomorrow but we still have to report at 9:00 (boo!) So I had to call all of the kids parents and make sure they knew we were not having school tomorrow. Whew! It was total craziness!

As far as how I am feeling goes....I have been really tired. By about 1:00 I am yawning my head off and can barely keep my eyes open. I have also had some cramping, But I have had very little nausea and no morning sickness yet! I am hoping that it stays that way. But I guess only time will tell!

Telling Everyone the Good News! (Part 2)

Andrew took a baseline belly picture for me yesterday so we would have something to go off of. He said he wants to take one every day so he can create a flip book but I think that is a little much! But at least now when I am eight months pregnant I can look back on this picture and think about how good it will be to be back at that size. :)

I was actually excited to go to work today because I was going to get to tell everyone (well some people) the good news! I told my principal first thing this morning. She gave me a hug and told me if a needed anything just to let her know that the baby is what is important right now. I was not planning on telling anyone else but I couldn't help it. I told Tracy my nieghbor across the hall and she cried...it was so sweet. Then I called all of teachers in my gradelevel out to the playground and told them. Linda told me she would come back to do my maternity leave....hehe (she is retireing). I might have to take her up on that! I told my LaFiesta crew and then told the gradelevel they could spread the news from there!

Oh I also call the doctor today. I told them that I had taken three tests and all of them were positive. They said there was no need to come up for a blood test because it was pretty much a sure thing if I got three positive results. They made an appointment for me to come in on April 23rd at 2:00 for a ultrasound, family history, and a physical!!! I cannot wait to see our baby!

I have been feeling pretty good. I have had a little cramping, some nausea, and I am feeling tired today. But I have not thrown up yet! Lets hope I don't! I still cannot believe that this is real. I keep wanting to take more pregnancy tests to make sure I have not completely lost my mind! I am hoping that all the worrying will subside after the first ultrasound!

Telling Everyone the Good News!

Yesterday we went to my parents house for my dad's birthday. I figured since everyone was going to be there it was as good a time as any to tell them the good news. I was really nervous and ancy the entire way there. Before we left Macon I went to Kroger to pick up some prenatal vitamins and while I was there I got I set of pacifiers. I wrapped them up in Christmas wrapping paper and then put it in a bag. When we got to the house I told moma and daddy that it was for both of them so they had to open it together. Daddy opened it and took off the wrapping paper and had the biggest grin on his face. Moma gave me a hug and then Daddy kissed me on the head and told us congratulations. My older sister was suprised because she didn't know we had started trying yet because we were not supposed to start until April. But you know how things change! But I was really happy that they were as excited as they were! I then called my little sister and told her the good news. She was excited as well. We ate dinner and hung out for a little while and then headed to Douglasville to tell Andrew's family. It was really funny how Andrew told them because the way he did it was really confusing. He told them that we had decided to start trying and were hoping to get pregnant as of yesterday....but they didn't understand that so I had to come out and say I was pregnant. Then they all screamed and gave us hugs. They were really surprised. After we left the house we went to see Kayla cause she just got back from her honeymoon. It was nice to see her cause I do not get to see her a lot and I got to see her apartment! Most people are saying that they hope it is a girl. There have been a couple that say they think it will be a boy. But I guess we will just have to wait and see!
